Using e-Signature in the Web UI
Important: To use e-Signature with an External Authentication through an Identity Provider (IDP), since additional configuration is required, submit a ticket to the Stibo Systems Service Portal.
Although e-Signature can be set up in the workbench to be used on a transition in a workflow, it can only be run in the Web UI. Users attempting to call a business rule using e-Signature in the workbench will receive an error. Additionally, functionality cannot be used for any automated transition process or within any system processes that do not have direct user interaction (such as scheduled bulk update).
When used in the Web UI, after the object is selected to move from one state to the next in the workflow, the re-authentication prompt appears, forcing the user to retype in their username and password.
Note: If an Identity Provider (IDP) is configured on a given system, the user will be redirected to the IDP to complete the authentication.
This provides a more secure interface, since the desired action is triggered only when the currently logged in user's username and password credentials are properly entered. If an incorrect username or password is entered an error message is displayed.
The user can then try and enter in the correct information and click Submit or Cancel. When an object has been edited without successfully re-authenticating, if set to do so, clicking Cancel and then trying to leave the page, the user is notified of the unsaved changes.
