Jakarta EE 11 Compliance
April 16, 2026
With the STEP 2026.1 release, the platform includes significant technical upgrades, including full compliance with Jakarta EE 11 and updates to several third‑party libraries.
Due to the scope of these changes, updating to 2026.1 may require additional customer actions beyond standard testing, including development work to ensure compatibility.
Customer action may be required. Customers are strongly advised to validate and, where necessary, adapt their solutions as part of the upgrade process — in particular:
-
Integrations, including Dynamic JMS delivery and receiver methods, due to the use of third-party client libraries
-
Extensions built using the Extension API
Solutions that rely on third‑party libraries with javax.* dependencies must be upgraded to jakarta.* .
Important: Some incompatibilities may not be detected by the update compatibility checks initially included in Update 2026.1. A fix for the compatibility check issue will be delivered in an upcoming Self-Service UI update.
Customers are advised to ensure all custom extensions are Jakarta EE 11 compliant before upgrading.
If you use customizations that are maintained by Stibo Systems, raise a support ticket to confirm compatibility prior to upgrade.
Workbench Requirement
To work with STEP 2026.1, STEP Workbench users must install the latest STEP Workbench Launcher (version 5.1.0).
This version is required due to the Jakarta EE 11 upgrade and can be downloaded via the Workbench Launchers link on the Start Page.
